About dance school for children in Stockholm
Dance is one of the most popular leisure activities for children in Stockholm, and it is easy to see why: children get to move, train their rhythm, coordination and body control, and at the same time express themselves and have fun together with others. For many children the dance studio also becomes a community that means as much as the steps on the floor.
The offering spans many styles. For the youngest there is creative dance and movement play, where the joy of moving and a sense of rhythm take centre stage — often for the very smallest together with a parent. From around four to six the genres become clearer: classical ballet with posture and technique, energetic streetdance and hip-hop, and jazz and modern or contemporary dance. Groups are divided by both age and level, and many courses end in a show where the children get to present what they have learned.
Dance schools in Stockholm can be found in most districts — from the municipal Kulturskolan and established names such as Balettakademien to smaller studios focused on street and show. When comparing courses, it is worth looking at which style and age group the course is for, whether it follows a term structure, and whether particular shoes or clothing are needed. Below you'll find current dance courses with age where the provider states it.
The courses are aimed at children from age 2. Courses run during autumn, spring and höstlov.
